Dr Ekkehard zur Mühlen, Managing Director of MC-Bauchemie, and Blair Edmonds, Managing Director of BCS, sealed the transaction on 1st December 2023, which came into force with immediate effect. As part of this acquisition, seven employees and two sites, including warehouses in the Sydney and Melbourne area, transferred to MC-Bauchemie Australia, which will also temporarily utilize the BCS warehouse in Brisbane.

BCS has been a strong ambassador for MC products in Australia for over nineteen years. Following the sales of some of its assets to MC-Bauchemie Australia, BCS will now concentrate on its already successful application business. BCS is Australia’s leading chemical injection specialists providing services to the infrastructure network across Australia.

Ideal time for acquisition

Blair Edmonds, Managing Director of BCS, said: "After a successful period of growth and expansion, we have decided to focus on our core competency of application and hand over the trading business of construction chemicals to MC." This will allow both companies to focus on their strengths and further expand their core businesses.

Dr Ekkehard zur Mühlen explained: "The timing for the separation of the trading business from the applications business is ideal. This will allow both areas to set their own priorities and develop further." He also emphasised MC-Bauchemie's ambition to expand its business and brand awareness in the Australian market and to meet the challenges of the technologically advanced Australian construction and repair industry with its entire product range.

MC-Bauchemie Australia will initially start its sales presence in the Sydney and Melbourne area with its own offices and warehouses with plans to establish further presences across the nation soon. Further, MC-Bauchemie Australia will be integrated more tightly into MC’s global supply chains, an endeavour strongly supported by Justyna Iwanska, General Manager of MC-Bauchemie in Malaysia.

Over the coming months, the businesses will be unbundled gradually, with some of the warehouses of MC-Bauchemie and BCS continuing to be shared for the time being. MC-Bauchemie Australia and BCS look forward to a successful collaboration in their respective specialities and are confident in further strengthening their individual positions in the Australian market.
